Dr. Mike Clingenpeel

Interim Preaching Pastor

Mike joined the staff at Winfree Church as Interim Pastor in July, 2024 upon the retirement of Dr. David Benjamin.  Mike has degrees from University of Richmond and Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, and has served pastorates in Indiana, Michigan and Virginia prior to his retirement in 2015.  Mike's wife, Vivian is an attorney, and they spend much of their time as Pops and Nana for three grandsons.  At his leisure he enjoys hiking, golf, reading and cheering for the Richmond Spiders."

Rev. Jimmy Doan

Youth Minister

Jimmy joined Winfree back in June of 2014. He has a dual degree in Religion/Philosophy and Psychology from Roberts Wesleyan College. His wonderful wife, Meagan, works on the Recruitment and Admissions team for VCU Performing Arts. Jimmy has spent most of his life in Upstate New York, which is why he is a huge fan of the Syracuse Orange and the Buffalo Bills. Jimmy truly has a passion for helping students navigate through the difficult times in their lives while trying to point them to how much Jesus loves, cares for them, and wants to be at the center of their lives.

Rev. Joshua P. Roberts

Young Adult Minister

Joshua joined us in July 2022. He is passionate about helping people grow in their walk with Jesus and seek to know Him more each day. At Winfree, Josh is the minister to Young Adults and is focused helping young people who are in college to those who are settled and raising a family and all who are in between.  Throughout the week Josh leads: a Sunday morning group at 9:40, a Monday night Bible study and hangout at 6:30, and teaches a Wednesday night discipleship class for anyone who wishes to attend.  Josh is also involved in several ministries and committees at Winfree. Josh graduated from Boyce College, the undergraduate school of The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, with a degree in Biblical and Theological Studies. In addition to his work at Winfree, Josh is enrolled at Union Presbyterian Seminary in Richmond. He is a proud native of Ohio and has served both senior and associate pastor roles in churches in Ohio and Virginia.

Matthew Knesal

Contemporary Worship Leader

Matthew Knesal is a Liberty graduate class of 2021, with a love and joy for worship leading, audio engineering, light design, as well as songwriting. With experience working and producing for worship leaders such as Michael W. Smith and Mac Powell, he is excited to bring his worship and commercial music experience to Winfree. Born right here in Midlothian Virginia, Matthew is excited to share his love of music and worship with the Winfree congregation. He has a heart for training more than just singers and musicians, but to train leaders for Christ.

Lauren Harrison

Interim Children's Ministries Director

Lauren was born and raised in Prince George and after recently getting married in 2023 has moved to Chester. She is a 2022 graduate of Liberty University with a Masters in Human Services Counseling. After years of serving in childcare at her previous church, she is very excited to bring her experience to Winfree. Lauren not only has a heart for teaching children about Jesus and how much he loves them, but also in serving the parents in any way she can.

Dr. Jimmie Miles

Minister of Congregational Care

Jimmie became a part of the ministerial staff on February 2024.  He previously served Winfree Church from 2004 until 2010 as the Minister of Education.   He is committed to Jesus Christ and wants to share the love and caring of Christ for the church family and the Midlothian community as they journey through the many joys and difficulties of life.

 

Jimmie graduated from the College of William and Mary with a degree in United States History and Educational Psychology.  He received his seminary degree in Christian Education from Union Presbyterian Seminary and The Presbyterian School of Christian Education.  He earned a Doctor of Business Administration with a focus in Human Resources Management from Southern California University.

 

He has served a number of Baptist Churches throughout Virginia in diverse ministerial roles.  He is married to Sharon and together they have three grown children, five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.  Sharon retired after a successful career as a Church Growth Consultant with Life Way Christian Resources.  They have served Christ internationally as well as in the United States.

Lindy Moore

Financial Administrator

Lindy studied music at Virginia Commonwealth University and has a degree in Business Administration from Strayer University. With plenty of financial experience in businesses as well as churches, we are so glad to have welcomed Lindy to the Winfree staff in February 2022. She also currently serves as the Music Director at Good Shepherd United Methodist. Lindy enjoys family time with her husband, Doug, and five sons -especially at the beach!

Carol Hill

Traditional Worship Leader

Carol joined Winfree in April 2024. She was born and raised in Lynchburg, VA, graduating from Lynchburg College. She earned the Master of Church Music and the Doctor of Music Ministry from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY. More recently, she graduated from Shenandoah University with her Doctor of Musical Arts. Carol has served as Minister of Music in several churches in Kentucky and Virginia over the years, and also as a music professor in several universities. She recently retired (July 2024) after ten years in elementary music (K-5) in Hopewell, VA.

Carol and her husband, David, served as IMB Missionaries for 15 years, 10/1986-01/2002, assigned as music professors at the Equatorial Baptist Theological Seminary in Belem, Para, Brazil. Both of their sons, Mark and Aaron, were born in Belem, Brazil. They are so thankful to God for so many blessings they received while serving in Brazil, and appreciate the opportunities and connections they continue to have when they get the chance to return.

Carol is also grateful for the musical ministry opportunities she has at Winfree Church and looks forward to what can be accomplished!

Caroline Hankinson

Office Manager

Caroline joined the staff at Winfree in October of 2023. She studied history and art at Regent University and graduated in 2022. Previously, she worked as an admissions counselor for Regent University until starting her role as our office manager. Caroline has also worked in children’s ministry for over 10 years in North Carolina where she was born and raised. She is passionate about creating art and crafting using a variety of different mediums and loves spending time at home with her two cats Mishka and Peaches.

Kelsea Burton

Publications Designer

Kelsea joined Winfree in the spring of 2017. She has always had a passion for design and graduated with a degree in Graphic Design in 2010.  Since then, she has explored many creative endeavors and is raising a daughter who is in middle school. Kelsea enjoys being part of the Winfree family and serving the staff and church members in her role designing and creating Winfree's major publications.

Michele Bynum

Organist

Michele is a native North Carolinian with many family ties to Virginia. She received her Bachelor's Degree of Music and Master's of Music in Piano Performance from Greensboro College and Converse College, respectively. She also has certification in Music Education and is a piano instructor at Salisbury Presbyterian Church Music Academy. Michele and her husband, Bill, live in Midlothian with their cairn terrier, Scooter. They have a son, Will, who lives in Richmond.

Gary Jenkins

Facilities Manager

Gary Jenkins was born and raised in Varina. He attended Elon College (B.A.), VCU (Business Law) and Richmond Technical School (HVAC). Gary is retired from Philip Morris where he worked in Environmental Services for 25 years. He was a part of opening John Tyler Community College in 1999 and St. Francis Hospital in 2005 – both in Facilities Engineering. Gary and his wife, Christine, live in Midlothian with their Cavapoo, Charlie. His hobbies include sailing, golf, snow skiing and fishing.
